Chinese kit vendor Huawei has taken on the field and civil maintenance and management of Vodafone's xDSL and mobile networks in Spain. The five year contract sees Huawei taking on 103 Vodafone employees who will be put on the vendor’s payroll.

Huawei reportedly currently has 140,000 staff

Chinese kit vendor Huawei has taken on the field and civil maintenance and management of Vodafone’s xDSL and mobile networks in Spain. The five year contract sees Huawei taking on 103 Vodafone employees who will be put on the vendor’s payroll.

Huawei will be in charge of the preventive and corrective maintenance of the mobile access network infrastructure and telecommunications equipments, which includes 2G, 3G and access transmission equipment.

The vendor will also operate and maintain any mobile access network future equipment, including the infrastructures deployed by other manufacturers.

Huawei’s relationship with Vodafone in Spain dates back to 2006 when the two firms signed a first contract for 3G equipment provisioning.
