Vodafone Australia appoints Romanian chief as CEO

Vodafone Hutchison Australia, formed by the merger of local carrier units Vodafone and Hutchison 3G, has appointed Inaki Berroeta, currently president and CEO at Vodafone Romania, as its incoming CEO.

Inaki Berroeta has been appointed CEO at Vodafone Australia

Vodafone Hutchison Australia, formed by the merger of  local carrier units Vodafone and Hutchison 3G, has appointed Inaki Berroeta, currently president and CEO at Vodafone Romania, as its incoming CEO.

Berroeta will take on the role on March 1, 2014 and will replace Bill Morrow who will leave the firm at the end of March.

Berroeta has been in his role at Vodafone Romania since 2010 and according to Vodafone Australia, has overseen growth and improved profitability despite the challenging economic climate in the country. Under his leadership Vodafone Romania also won a 15 year spectrum licence and became the country’s first operator to offer LTE services.

The Romanian business delivered revenue of €769m and EBITDA of €276m for FY2012-2013.

Berroeta has worked in the telecoms industry for 20 years and was formerly CEO at Vodafone Malta. Prior to that he held roles at Vodafone Spain and at various US firms.
