French incumbent, France Telecom lost 2.11 million subscriptions during 2006 according to figures released Thursday from the French telecoms regulator, Arcep.

The regulator blamed the mass defections on triple-play options being offered in France by rival operators. The trend is not limited to French markets: in its Q4 results, German incumbent Deutsche Telekom reveals that it too has haemorrhaged around half a million customers to triple-play rivals.

Arcep said the total number of customers who have cancelled their subscriptions with France Telecom has increased fourfold in the past year.
