Green Packet Malaysia, which provides mobile broadband software solutions to enable connectivity between different wireless networks, has signed an agreement with Tatung Infocomm, a WiMAX service provider in Taiwan.

The deal involves the customisation of Green Packet’s Intouch Connection Management Platform, which allow seamless handoff between WiMAX and wifi networks without having to reestablish a connection. The ‘enhanced’ Green Packet Intouch Connection Management Platform will also feature an embedded widget tool, which enables Tatung to offer its own services to customers via a single access point.

Tatung Infocomm was the first of Taiwan’s six WiMAX licence holders to launch commercial service, starting 27th April on Penghu Islands.

In separate news, Green Packet has entered into a strategic collaboration agreement with GCT Semiconductor to develop further its seamless mobility solution – using a single GCT chip – to roam between WiMAX and wifi networks.
