Successful social networking portal MySpace announced a partnership with US mobile operator Cingular Wireless on Monday, allowing Cingular customers to access MySpace via their handsets.

The deal is MySpace’s largest scale mobile partnership to date, following similar deals with US MVNO Helio and Japanese operator Softbank.

In November, the appointment of Jean-Paul Sanchez, previously Vodafone’s global business development manager, to head up Fox Interactive’s mobile strategy in Europe sparked reports that MySpace is also preparing to expand onto the European mobile scene.
