Spanish carrier Telefónica’s International Wholesale Services (TIWS) division, the bit responsible for delivering wholesale connectivity to service providers worldwide, has teamed up with European fibre network operator Interoute, to expand the reach of both parties.
Interoute will become TIWS’ core fibre optic network provider for Western Europe, including Madrid, Barcelona, Paris, London, Frankfurt, Amsterdam, Dusseldorf and Marseille, while Interoute will gain access to TIWS’ trans-Atlantic, USA and Latin American routes.
The combined network will provide 10GB capacity on a wholesale basis over DWDM (dense wavelength division multiplexing ).
