French media and telecommunications group Vivendi, on Tuesday said it had made a EUR2.5bn bid for Deutsche Telekom’s (DT) 49 per cent stake in Polish mobile-phone operator Polska Telefonia Cyfrowa (PTC).

DT and Vivendi have battled over PTC for several years, often in court and the bid is aimed at ending uncertainty over the future of the Polish firm.

Until now the German incumbent has owned at least 49 per cent of PTC. Today it owns 51 per cent with the remainder owned by the Elektrim Telekomunikacja conglomerate – a joint venture set up between Vivendi and Poland’s Elektrim.
