The internet of things has, in varying forms, been around for the best part of the last two decades in one way or another. However, in the past few years the term “IoT” has flourished and become one of the most discussed subjects in the telecoms industry today.

Applications and use-cases for IoT and M2M extend in to almost every major industry vertical, and is already being exploited to great benefit by enterprise firms the world over, most notably in industrial, automotive and manufacturing industries. Alas, telecoms operators lay in the ideal position to drive the widespread adoption of IoT sooner rather than later; as LTE and fixed networks enable the pervasion of residential and commercial connections.

Telecoms.com Intelligence recently ran a comprehensive survey to gain a more thorough understanding of the IoT opportunity for operators as it exists today. Just short of 1,000 respondents participated in our questionnaire, covering four comprehensive areas of concern: information security; cellular networking challenges; cloud and big data; and industrial IoT.

As such, we’re delighted to announce the launch of the IoT Outlook 2015, a 24-page complimentary report detailing our analysis of the 909 responses we received to the survey. We hope that you enjoy the report, and that it aids you in your decision-making process as we begin this IoT adventure together.
