Three Group gets into bed with Cisco Jasper to resell Control Center

Enterprise customers of CK Hutchison-owned Three Group will be able to access Jasper through national networks and the Hue services division.

Cisco has been relatively hands-off with Jasper since the acquisition but, as Jasper told us at MWC 2017, being part of such a large multinational has enabled Jasper to scale much more rapidly than it was previously capable of. This deal with a global telecoms group seems a good illustration of Cisco’s gran plan for IoT.

“Speed, flexibility and control are key to powering connected devices on a global scale,” said Jarrod Nink CEO at Hue. “Through our global footprint of high-speed mobile networks built for mobile data, and Cisco Jasper’s powerful platform, our customers will enjoy an edge in the IoT market for years to come. This partnership will put Three at the heart of the global IoT marketplace and offers huge potential to our enterprise customers.”

The specific areas Three Group anticipates demand for this partnership include: connected car, building security and automation, and transport/logistics. The fact that Cisco is partnering with a telecoms company indicates belief that this channel is likely to be a lucrative one for the commercialisation of IoT.
