As of next week, Android applications will support in-app billing. In preparation, Android Market has already opened up for end to end testing of the functionality.
According to Google, the feature will give developers more ways to monetise their applications through models including try-and-buy, virtual goods and upgrades. The service manages billing transactions between apps and users, providing a consistent purchasing experience with familiar forms of payment across all apps. At the same time, it gives developers full control over how digital goods are purchased and tracked, Google said.
From this week, developers can upload apps to the Developer Console, create a catalogue of in-app products, and set prices for them.
