As the Intel Develop Conference kicks off in Beijing, China, this week, expectations are high that the chip firm will unveil an ultra mobile PC platform based on Linux.
The Intel Mobile Internet Device platform is believed to be an extension of the Centrino platform and will focus on tablet-style devices with around a 5″ screen size.
The operating system is thought to be a variation of China’s homegrown Red Flag Linux with support for the small touchscreen and a dual core 800MHZ processor. Connectivity is likely to be via wifi and 3G/HSDPA.
