Symbian teamed up with Korean manufacturer Samsung Tuesday to launch the SGH-i-520 at the Symbian Smartphone Show in London.

The new HSDPA smartphone is based on Symbian OS v9 and S60 3rd edition, Feature Pack 1.

It’s a looker with a skinny slider and an in-built HSDPA radio and browser. Samsung reckons it will deliver “download speeds up to five times faster than other smartphones”.

Andy Brannan, executive vice-president, sales and customer operations at Symbian, said: “The Samsung i520 elegantly combines an attractive slim smartphone with high-speed Internet access providing consumers with a new level of interaction and immediacy for information and entertainment.”
