Canadian telco Videotron has announced the launch of its LTE network in Québec, bringing 4G coverage and speeds of up to 150mbps to 90% of the province’s population.
The operator, which launched its first mobile network in 2010, has grown its subscriber base by nearly 50% in the 2 years up to September 2014 on W-CDMA, and is now the 4th largest mobile network operator in Québec.
With the arrival of widespread 4G LTE coverage in Québec, Videotron is opening itself up to a potential market of over 8 million residents in the province.
The President and CEO of Videotron, Manon Brouillette, spoke of the company’s progress in rolling out advanced mobile services, saying: “We have reached another watershed in our progress by bringing consumers this state-of-the-art mobile network. I would be remiss if I failed to mention our people’s colossal efforts over the past few months”
Videotron claims that the launch enables it to further enhance the customer experience, and opens up new opportunities and possibilities going into the future, for more than 550,000 subscribers in the province.
Finally, Brouillette was sure to leave a “hearts and minds” message of sincerity during the announcement: “The roll-out of LTE service demonstrates our commitment to satisfying consumers’ needs and holding our place in our customers’ hearts and hearths,” she said.
