Korean handset vendor LG Electronics said this week it has been enjoying strong sales of its 5 megapixel camera phone, the Viewty, which launched last month.

LG said it has shifted 310,000 units of the Viewty touchscreen device, or the LG-KU990 as it’s known, across the UK, France and Germany.

More recently, sales of the device have moved up to around 6,300 units daily, beating records of LG’s successful earlier models such as the Chocolate and the Shine.

“In some countries, our product supply is even running low. This impressive result is attributable to the perfect balance between technology and design developed based on consumer insight,” said Skott Ahn, president and CEO of LG Electronics Mobile.

Sales of the Viewty are expected to continue in the same vein, with Christmas just around the corner and a recent launch into the Asian and Middle East markets.
