UK operator EE has signed a six-year partnership deal with the English national football stadium Wembley Stadium. EE will become Wembley Stadium’s lead brand partner, in what is said is the stadium first ever deal of such nature, with immediate effect.
The operator aims to make Wembley “the most connected stadium in the world” and with the six-year deal intends to ensure it remains among the most technologically advanced stadiums in the world for years to come. It added that it will make a multi-million pound investment in Wembley’s technological infrastructure over the next six years.
EE intends to provide mobile ticketing solutions for the stadium as well as enhanced mobile network access and wifi connectivity. Subscribers of EE will also benefit from exclusive ticketing and marketing initiatives starting late March. It will also offer a free bespoke app designed for visitors to the stadium.
The 10th annual LTE World Summit, the premier 4G event for the telecoms industry, is taking place on the 23rd-26th June 2014, at the Amsterdam RAI, Netherlands. Click here to download a brochure for the event.
The app, which runs on Android and iOS devices, offers a dynamic feed of event content as well as stadium and travel information.
“We have been looking for the right partner to help us make sure that Wembley maintains its reputation for being one of the best sport and entertainment venues on the planet,” said Melvin Benn, Wembley Chairman. “As stadia around the world become increasingly more technologically advanced, EE is the perfect partner to assist us in fulfilling that goal, giving event owners and their fans the best possible and unforgettable shared experiences.”
EE CEO Olaf Swantee voiced his pride at becoming Wembley Stadium’s lead partner and said that over the coming months the operator will announce upgrades and innovations to the existing infrastructure at the stadium.
