Nokia and Three Ireland have announced a five year network upgrading initiative, which will see a variety of new technologies added to the telco’s network.
The agreement will see Nokia provide a thorough operations expansion to Three’s radio access network, as well as a simplified management structure across its multi-vendor equipment. To do so, Nokia will be providing real-time remote support from its Global Delivery Centre in Lisbon, Portugal.
As a result, Nokia says the deployment will also give Three the ability to quickly implement additional networking technologies for the RAN, claiming it will be able to do so with the ”highest quality of service for Three Ireland’s customers”, according to a Nokia statement.
The terms struck between Three and Nokia means the Finnish vendor will also be deploying its dedicated OSS system NetAct, a virtualized flavour of which was announced last week, to more thoroughly analyse, process and contextualise insights gained from network traffic. Nokia reckons Three will benefit from full visibility and advanced network management skills by implementing NetAct.
“We are committed to delivering the best possible service for our customers,” said Three Ireland CTO David Hennessy. “By moving to one managed services supplier across our radio access network, we will have a more transparent structure, simplifying operations and enhancing network performance.”
“With this deal we show our strength in multi-vendor managed services and our ability to swiftly implement the centralized managed services infrastructure that many operators want to achieve,” said John Ward, Customer Business Team Head at Nokia. “By choosing Nokia’s service, Three Ireland can ensure that its customers receive the highest network availability and best quality service.”
