Google buys Quickoffice, Meebo
Web giant Google is on the acquisition trail, having this week forked out for social engagement platform Meebo and mobile office suite Quickoffice.

Web giant Google is on the acquisition trail, having this week forked out for social engagement platform Meebo and mobile office suite Quickoffice.
The value of the transactions was not revealed, but the purchases boost Google’s presence in the mobile and advertising spaces.
Meebo bills itself as Meebo is “a consumer internet company focused on driving user engagement across the web,” and claims to reach approximately half of the US internet population. The company has a web-based toolbar, the Meebo Bar, which can be implemented on websites to promote content and, of course, adverts.
Quickoffice claims to be installed on over 300 million devices in more than 180 countries and is bes known for a mobile app that allows users to view, edit and create Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint documents on their device.
