Staff at Nokia in Finland are staging a strike Friday in protest at the company’s recent layoffs, according to the Reuters news agency.
The world’s leading mobile manufacturer, which is based in the Scandinavian territory, said last week that it intends to axe up to 700 jobs, with at least 340 from its home country. The cuts were part of Nokia’s “reorganisation”, it said.
A further 130 jobs are to go in the company’s own IT organisation as part of the drive for increased efficiency.
