The winner of the third mobile licence for Slovakia is expected to be announced by the regulator there within the next two weeks, according to reports from the region.

Telefonica SA, Czech Radiokomunikace and Mobilkom Austria are all competing for the licence according to the SITA news agency.

Milan Luknar, chairman of the Slovak Telecommunications Office is quoted by the agency saying that “originally the tender terms were prepared to evaluate 12 to 14 bids. Therefore I suppose evaluation and announcement of the winner shouldn’t take more than fourteen days.”

Luknar explained that if the tender is completed successfully, he expects the licence winner to enter the market before Christmas.
