GE has launched a cloud service based on its industrial equipment monitoring and analytics platform, Predix, which it is aiming at industrial IoT applications in most of the verticals it already serves – aviation, manufacturing, automotive, energy and healthcare, reports BCN.
Japanese mobile network operator NTT DoCoMo has announced a memorandum of understanding with GE Digital to co-develop a new platform for enabling IoT, specifically industrial.
Open source Platform as a Service (PaaS) initiative Cloud Foundry announced the addition of eight new members this week. Ericsson, NTT and Verizon are among those looking to contribute to and benefit from the initiative, which is indicates how seriously telcos are looking at digging deeper into the cloud stack.
US chip giant Intel said Tuesday it has entered into an agreement with General Electric to form a 50/50 joint venture healthcare company focused on electronic health and independent living. The new company will absorb GE Healthcare’s Home Health division and Intel’s Digital Health Group, and will be owned equally by GE and Intel. It is expected to become operational by the end of the year.
