Telecom Italia’s Brazilian operation, TIM Brasil, is considering offloading its cell tower infrastructure in a bid to unlock more value from the assets and make the company more efficient.
At a meeting of the board of directors earlier this week, the company authorised the review and analysis of proposals for its cell phone towers, “aiming to create more value for the asset and at the same time to improve the efficiency of the company.”
The board also said it is recommending the company actively participate in the forthcoming 700MHz auction approved by regulator Anatel last week.
The so called ‘4G auction’ for 700MHz frequencies is due to take place in August and the board said it considers TIM Brasil’s participation “relevant [to] the perspective of frequency’s availability of the digital dividend for the mobile broadband development.”
