Indian carrier Aircel has tapped ZTE to deploy an LTE network in Chennai, Rest of Tamil Nadu (RoTN) and several other business critical circles in the country. ZTE recently completed the migration of Aircel’s data services to an LTE evolved packet core in the Chennai and RoTN circles.
ZTE has enjoyed a relationship with Aircel since 2008, supporting 2G and 3G network rollouts in three circles of the north zone. Now ZTE is focusing on rolling out Evolved Packet Core technology in the south zones.
According to Mr. Anupam Vasudev, CMO, Aircel, the huge demand for internet enabled devices such as smartphones and tablets among the largely young population, along with the increase in consumption of data on internet and rising demand for content are some of the factors fuelling the country’s exponential growth in data.
“In the initial phase of the rollout, we aim to offer our customers the highest data speed of 65 Mbps in the country,” said Mr. Xu Dejun, CEO, ZTE India.
The 9th annual LTE Asia conference is taking place on the 15th-17th September 2014 at the Suntec, Singapore. Click here to download a brochure for the event.
