DT gets Cisco and Huawei on board for IoT starter bundle

Deutsche Telekom (DT) is partnering with a host of digital and cloud players to develop an out-of-the-box enterprise-ready IoT offering.
Working with GE Digital, Cisco, Microsoft, Huawei and SAP; DT will be launching its “Cloud of Things” starter kit this week. DT says the kit will include software and sensors for customers to track various performance metrics with a range of use-cases, SIM cards with specific data transmission rates, as well as access to the DT cloud for data hosting and processing.
DT claims the complete offering will also support automated device maintenance including device damage maintenance and wear and tear reports, as well as predictive analytics so customers will be able to prevent the need for maintenance before damage occurs.
Speaking on the Cloud of Things starter kit launch, Anette Bronder, Director of Deutsche Telekom’s enterprise services arm T-Systems says successful use of the IoT requires partnerships and reliability on other industry players.
“Nobody is capable of mastering the Internet of Things on their own,” she said. “That’s why we are investing in an ecosystem of platforms, partners and products to put us in a position to offer our business customers a full IoT end-to-end solution quickly and easily.”
One of the key platforms DT is utilising for the solution is GE Digital’s Predix solution, a cloud platform for industrial data and data analysis. GE says the service currently has more than 7,500 internal or external developers building IoT programmes on the platform, and also announced the launch of asset performance management tools to integrate into Predix.
The vendor claims the integration of APM solutions into the platform enables organisations to use data and cloud analytics to improve performance, reliability and available of IoT assets, while minimising TCO and operational risk.
