Category seven of the LTE Award 2013 is the Best LTE RAN Product. This award recognises Radio Access Network elements that are exceptional in their area. Entrants are required to describe the RAN product and how it contributes to making LTE more attractive for operators to deploy/improve the quality or coverage of commercial LTE networks.
The nominations are:
– CellMax Technologies: CellMax range of ultra high-efficiency antennas
– Samsung: Smart SON
– Spidercloud Wireless: first scalable and multi-access 3G, Wi-Fi and 4G/LTE small cell system
– Tektronix Communications: GeoSoft RAN – RAN Monitoring solution
– ZTE Corporation: ZXSDR BS8912, ZTE LTE Micro/Relay eNodeB
The CEO of CellMax, Torbjörn Kämpe said that its ultra-high efficiency antennas for base stations would give mobile operators a valuable tool to cope with the rapidly increasing traffic in their networks, improve services to the customers, and reduce operating costs. “I am glad that the telecom industry’s experts recognise the importance of antennas – long regarded as a commodity – and the important role that ultra-high efficiency antennas can play to dramatically improve network performance,” he commented.
SpiderCloud’s nomination recognises the importance of small cells and its senior vice president and CMO Ronny Haraldsvik claims that SpiderCloud is the first company to offer a true multi-access system with 3G, LTE/4G and dual-band Wi-Fi, providing indoor mobile services for enterprise customers. He said that the nomination would, “help the company gain awareness in markets and countries that the company is currently not engaged, thus helping grow business globally.”
Tektronix Communications CEO Ln Cantor, observes that Up to 70 per cent of customer problems occur on the Radio Access Network. As such GeoSoft RAN’s “virtual” probe is crucial, as it enables end-to-end network visibility, troubleshooting, planning, network optimisation and access to valuable customer data, at a fraction of previous costs. Cantor says that Tektronix can improve quality of service and security, deliver a smart customer experience, reduce churn and lower operating costs. “This award will recognise our work in helping operators uncover the hidden secrets and previously dark corners of the RAN.”
