The Telecoms.com LTE Awards 2013 – Category Six Preview – Best LTE Core Network Element

Category six of the LTE Awards 2013 is the Best LTE Core Network Element, which recognises the core network elements that are exceptional in their area. Entrants are required to describe their core network product and how it contributes to making LTE more attractive for operators to deploy, and how it has contributed to the success of a commercial LTE deployment.

The nominations are:

  • Avvasi Inc: Avvasi Inc.,

  • BroadSoft: UC-One IMS

  • Ericsson and Telstra (Joint): Ericsson Smart Services Router SSR 8000

  • F5 Networks: Traffix Signaling Controller (SDC)

  • Mavenir: Mavenir’s mOne Platform

  • Tekelec: Diameter Signaling Router (DSR)

President and CEO of Avvasi Mate Prgin says that with its nomination it has created a market category of video QoE measurement and management – a feature that enables network operators to profitably monetise OTT video. He says that its tool is the world’s first real-time video QoE measurement and management for mobile networks and that the award nomination was a plus.

“The visibility provided by the prestigious LTE awards will go a long way towards helping Avvasi promote its brand. The LTE awards nomination will provide Avvasi with the necessary recognition to reach the next level of growth.”

Ben Volkow, VP of the Traffix Division of F5 Networks describes a Diameter signalling management solution as the nervous system of a network, ensuring the performance of a network is top notch. He says that its Traffix SDC provides security to enable networks to confidently connect for roaming, as well as advanced overload control and session binding for unprecedented scalability and flexibility. The system he says gives network engineers, “confidence that their LTE network can handle signalling spikes or any other operational change gives us the motivation and the vision to stay ahead in the market.”

Tekelec put its case for why it should win the award by stating that its Diameter Signaling Router reduces the cost and complexity of core networks and can provide the foundation for new revenue-generating mobile data services. It is designed to improve signaling performance and congestion control, while providing ongoing architectural flexibility through the use of virtualisation. “Given the prestige of the event and judges, we are honoured to be acknowledged for our thought leadership and innovation in the LTE space,” Jason Emery, Tekelec’s AVP of product management, Broadband Network Solutions said in a statement.

With a total of ten global and regional events taking place in 2013 Informa Telecoms & Media’s LTE World Series is a testament to the huge growth of the LTE eco-system.
