Category ten of the LTE Awards 2013 is for the Most Innovative LTE Application/Service.

For this award entrants are required to describe the application/service, the impact that it has had in the market and how it leverages the capabilities LTE provides. The category should analyse the impact and benefit it has had on end users and/or carriers.

The nominations are:

Affirmed Networks: Mobile Content Cloud
Ericsson: Ericsson LTE Broadcast Solution
Huawei Technologies: Huawei TDFi solution

Mobile Viewpoint: WMT LTE++
Radisys and Mavenir: Radisys’ Media Resource Function (MRF) and Mavenir’s mOne Convergence Platform
Spidercloud Wireless and NEC: First scalable and multi-access 3G, Wi-Fi And 4G/LTE small cell system

Ericsson’s end-to-end LTE Broadcast solution comprises three new technology standards: eMBMS, MPEG DASH and HEVC and Ericsson’s LTE Broadcast is designed to reduce costs and improve efficiency of delivering high quality TV and video, to devices over mobile networks. “This award nomination demonstrates our position as an industry thought leader and as a pioneer in the development ofvideo over LTE, also known as LTE Broadcast,” said Alexander Sem, head of TV and media product marketing, Ericsson.

Mobile Viewpoint’s WMT LTE++ solution looks to create cost effective and creative opportunities for both the broadcast and security industries. Its CEO, Michiel Bais says that its solution shows that a start-up company with little funds is able to deliver a high-end video transmission solution that can compete with large international companies. He says the award nomination is, “kudos for our technical team that developed this technology and will create more awareness for the high-quality standard products we have developed.”

Radisys and Mavenir’s joint award is for an IMS solution designed to support VoLTE and RCS. Amit Agarwal, Radisys VP and general manager of software and solutions for Radisys says that its solution will help operators differentiate their LTE services from data-only LTE players, boosting revenues and expanding its market share. ““Being nominated in this category is a strong validation of the IMS solution leadership and technology investments being made at Radisys and Mavenir,”says Agarwal.

Spidercloud Wireless and NEC also has a joint submission for its small cell system. The company said that it with small cells it say an opportunity to help operators identify and deploy in-building systems ten times faster than traditional DAS systems. Its claim to the award is based on the fact that it is the first to bring to market a scalable multi-access small cell system for mobile operators. “The recognition from the Informa brand will help NEC and SpiderCloud Wireless promote the scalable and multi-access part of the small cell business,” said Ronny Haraldsvik, chief marketing officer at SpiderCloud Wireless.
