As the next generation of communications infrastructure is rolled out around the world, many in the telecoms industry see the need to combat climate change, enhance climate resilience, and develop adaptive capabilities as important pieces of the puzzle.
Telecoms.com Intelligence, in collaboration with RedHat, Intel, Nokia, and ZTE, recently conducted a survey to get the views of telecoms professionals on climate sustainability and the associated risks and opportunities in the industry. Here are a few snippets of the findings from the survey:
More than two in five respondents are currently in a planning phase and assessing where their organisation can have the most impact
More than half of respondents agree increased operational efficiencies and innovation are the top drivers behind offering climate-sustainable products and services
Reducing energy consumption is the most urgent operational challenge the industry professionals want to address
The majority of respondents are at least somewhat concerned that the energy saving solutions they implement will have negative impacts on consumer experience
