Opera Software’s Skyfire optimisation unit, which the company purchased in 2013, has added streaming audio optimisation to Rocket Optimizer, its NFV-ready video and data optimisation platform for mobile operators.
Norwegian operator group Telenor will be using Skyfire’s video and internet optimisation technology across 11 countries. The firm, a subsidiary of software developer Opera, will be the lead supplier for network-based mobile video and media optimization for Telenor, as part of a deal the operator struck with kit vendor Alcatel Lucent.
