AT&T offers LTE roaming in Canada

US operator AT&T has announced a partnership to enable LTE data roaming service in Canada using Rogers Communications’ network. AT&T said that its agreement with the Canadian operator makes it the first US operator to offer international LTE roaming.

AT&T subscribers roaming in Canada can use their LTE device on Rogers LTE network, which currently reaches 70 percent of Canadians. Rogers has announced that it will expand its LTE coverage to 95 new markets over the next year.

“Our agreement with Rogers affirms our commitment to deliver superior international coverage to our customers,” said Bill Hague, executive vice president, International, Alliances and Integrations, AT&T Mobility. “AT&T customers already have access to the nation’s fastest, most reliable 4G LTE network while in the United States and now they can enjoy LTE speeds while roaming in Canada.”

AT&T customers can select from one of three data add-on packages that offer discounted rates in Canada; 120Mb for $30 per month; 300Mb for $60 per month; and 800Mb for $120 per month.

In September, Rogers Communications launched LTE wireless roaming today in the US with AT&T. The Canadian operator said the agreement makes it the nation’s first carrier to offer LTE roaming for wireless customers travelling to the US.

The LTE North America conference is taking place on the November 18th-20th 2014 at the InterContinental Hotel, Dallas, Texas, USA. Click here NOW to download a brochure for the event.
