Polish operators Polkomtel and Aero2 are working with Ericsson to expand their LTE and WCDMA networks in the country. The operators will expand the network that they have a network sharing agreement in place for, to northern and western Poland as data consumption continues to surge across the nation.
The Swedish network infrastructure vendor will design, deploy and integrate the networks, providing ongoing support for an initial three years. After this duration, the operators can opt to switch provider, and if they do not, the existing agreement will continue.
Ericsson said that its radio solutions will enhance coverage, capacity and throughput for the operators’ customers.
Emil Nilsson, vice president for Central Europe at Ericsson said that the firm has been present in Poland for over 100 years.
“This first LTE contract reiterates our commitment to the Polish market,” he added.
