EE and Box ink deal to bring cloud collaboration to small businesses

Cloud-based storage and collaboration provider Box announced a new collaboration with Everything Everywhere (EE) on Wednesday that will see the telco offer Box to its small business customers. Box said the move is part of a broader push into the UK cloud market.

The collaboration will see UK telco EE offer Box to its small business customers on 4G sharing plans free for six months, with 100GB file sharing and storage for up to 10 users. After the first six months EE and Box will offer the service for £3.50 per month.

“The combination of cloud and mobile computing is having a profound effect on not only on how individuals work and collaborate, it’s also remaking how we structure our organizations and manage information,” said Aaron Levie, co-founder and chief executive officer of Box. “For IT professional and business leaders, this is a once-in-a-generation shift that’s requiring new strategies and a new mindset.”

Speaking at its Businesses Without Borders event in London yesterday Levie highlighted the company’s growth in the UK, adding that Box was recently accepted into the latest G-Cloud procurement framework – whereas previously public sector users could only access Box via third parties (which is how most users access Box,according to the company’s senior vp of platforms Chris Yeh).

Just under a month ago the company inaugurated its new London office housing its EMEA headquarters, and highlighted its recent partnership with Gatwick Airport which will see Box rolled out to the airport’s 2,500 employees over the next year.
