HTC freshens up Touch with widescreen
Taiwanese gadget maker HTC has updated its portfolio of popular Touch devices with a new model boasting a 3.8″ WVGA screen and a 5 megapixel camera.
The Touch HD is based on the Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional platform and features HTC’s more user friendly touchscreen interface known as TouchFlo, which has come on leaps and bounds since its first outing on the original Touch.
The unit quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE capable and claims 7.2Mbps HSDPA connectivity as well as wifi and GPS.
It features 512MB of inbuilt flash memory as well as a microSD memory card slot, and a standard 3.5mm headphone jack.
The Touch HD will be available from major European carriers in the fourth quarter and will be introduced in other global markets at a later date.
The original Touch device has also received an update, squeezing in 3G connectivity and a slightly larger 2.8″ screen. It now goes by the moniker Touch 3G.
